NHD-CA State Finals 2020

Cost: $95 per student
Friday, May 8 – Sunday, May 10, 2020
Dates:
The NHD-CA State Finals will take place in Rocklin, CA (Just north of Sacramento), Friday, May 8 to Sunday, May 10, 2020. Champions from local county competitions are eligible to advance to the NHD-CA competition.

Pre-Judging: Judges selected for websites and papers will be required to preview these projects ahead of time. In addition to this preview, judges in these categories will need to be available at the competition to interview students.

Why a Virtual Contest?
To ensure the safety of students, teachers, judges NHD-CA has made the decision to hold the NHD-CA state competition online. Allowing this event to continue is important to us so that students still have the ability to showcase their hard work.

How will the 2021 Virtual Contest Work?
Judging this year will be done synchronously in Zoom breakout rooms where judges will view, score, rank, and complete all paperwork as a team on the following dates.

Time Commitment
Much like an in-person contest, virtual project review, comment writing, and discussion can take an estimated 3-4 hours of time. Judges will complete all judging and paperwork during their scheduled Zoom session.
Technology Requirements
In order to judge virtually, judges will need access to a laptop, desktop, computer to:

VIEW PROJECTS: Documentary and Performance videos and Websites will be viewed online. Exhibits & Posters will be presented as a PDF.

REVIEW PAPERWORK: Process papers and annotated bibliographies will be available as PDFs.

SUBMIT SCORE SHEETS: Score Sheets will be submitted online.
